| Enjoying Your Pregnancy Birth Art One way to enjoy your pregnancy is to connect with your baby and body through birth art. There’s really no special way to do birth art, but really it involves drawing or painting pictures having to do with birth. You can also do pottery or work with clay. Some people make necklaces or bracelets that symbolize something to them. There are endless ideas and all creations are unique. Birth art is a therapeutic way to explore what may be present subconsciously. It can help to alleviate fears or tensions, and often times, brings these issues to light. Birth art is even used as a healing modality if a birth was particular traumatic. Birth Story Obviously, this must be done after the birth, but I couldn’t help but sneak it in there! I feel writing down your birth experience is so important. It helps to process it and embrace it. It will be treasured for always and your child will enjoy reading it. If you want to consider submitting yours to our website, feel free to us the contact us form. We would be honored if you’d share it with us. You can also prepare for your birth and connect with other women by reading birth stories written by others. Just keep the stories positive! Blessingway Ceremony A blessingway is a little bit different than a baby shower. Instead of little games, party favors, cake, and presents, a blessingway honors the mother to be. Guests may give empower advice or blessings for the soon to be mom. There may be such things as helping her create a belly cast or decorate her belly in art. They may create her a charm type bracelet out of beads to represent pearls of wisdom. It is meant to honor the mother and prepare her for her incredible journey of birth. Baby Shower While much more traditional, they are still exciting and fun. Think through what you’ll truly need though and let people know your preferences for organic, natural things. Register at stores that keep this in mind or online. If you get way more things than you can use, consider donating them. Belly Cast I didn’t find out about this until my second pregnancy, and I wish I had known about it with my first. It is a really neat, but messy experience. You will undoubtedly need help. You basically make a molding or cast of your belly near the end of your pregnancy. It is really fun to have. Once my baby was here, we took pictures of her lying in it. It was so fun to see her that small and how she fit inside of it. They are not expensive. I bought mine at Amazon.com. Belly Art There are little kits you can buy to decorate your belly with create work. It can be fun. I personally haven’t done this. I was tired, couldn’t find time, and it felt like too much work, but I could imagine that it would be a really neat concept. Remember to take a picture. Belly Measurements It is fun to take measurements of how your belly grows. This will help make the growing more enjoyable and help you to connect with your baby. It also helps you embrace your changing body and all the things that go with it. Belly Pictures It is fun to take pictures week by week and watch how the belly grows each week. You can even have professional pregnancy pictures taken. Sometimes it’s hard to be interested in documenting these moments. Pregnancy is not always the most glamorous time. If the pictures turn out horrible, you don’t have to show anyone. But you are pregnant so few times in life, and you’ll never be able to get back what you didn’t do. So, just take the pictures because you may enjoy them later. Your child will probably enjoy them too. Join a Mom Group It is important to connect with other moms around you to make friends and gain support. They can be a great resource. It is nice to know you are not alone. Good support groups can build you up and encourage you. Check out some more holistic groups to find moms that are more naturally minded and believe in the same things that you do. |
