| Exemptions Contrary to popular belief, it is possible to receive exemptions from vaccines. All states allow for medical exemptions from vaccines. The only hitch is that you must have a note from a physician to back up this claim. It is a rare physician that will do this. Every state, except West Virginia and Mississippi, will allow for a religious exemption. In some cases, you may have to prove you belong to a religion to be exempt. There are even online churches and such things popping up for this purpose. In many cases, obtaining a religious exemption is as simple as signing a little form provided by the school. If your child’s school does not have these forms, they are available for download online. There are also various states that allow a philosophical exemption, which is still just a form to sign. It is possible but difficult to get exemptions in other circumstances such as adoption, military service, health care workers, etc. These exemptions are out of the scope of this website, however, detailed information and resources are available in the book by Dr. Sherri TenPenny: Saying No to Vaccines. Herd Immunity This is a good time to talk about herd immunity. Herd immunity is one of the ploys used to coerce parents into vaccinating their children. The premise is that everyone in a population needs to be vaccinated to eradicate a disease. Pro-vaccine individuals state that unvaccinated children are a risk to everyone when they are unvaccinated. They also believe unvaccinated children benefit from this so called “herd immunity” by being around the majority of people who are vaccinated, therefore decreasing the likelihood of catching a disease since a vaccination supposedly makes someone immune. They call this unfair. There are so many things wrong with the above thinking. For starters, vaccines are far from perfect and as I stated elsewhere in this section, simply being vaccinated does not automatically make you immune. See our discussion on efficacy. Unvaccinated children do not benefit from herd immunity. Recently vaccinated children can actually be hazardous to individuals not vaccinated because they shed the virus from live virus vaccines for a period of time following a vaccination, which someone else can then catch and actually get the disease from. Unvaccinated children benefit not from herd immunity, but from having immune systems strong enough to fight off viral and bacterial invaders because their bodies haven’t been bombarded by the toxins found in vaccines. Unvaccinated children as a group are found to be markedly healthier than their vaccinated counterparts. They get sick less often, and their good health is often very noticeable. Now unvaccinated children shouldn’t be a risk to vaccinated people if the vaccines work. If the vaccines worked as intended and offered protection from the disease, then there shouldn’t be any way to catch the disease because you’d already be immune, right? So why would unvaccinated children pose any risk? It’s funny that this faulty logic of unvaccinated children being a risk comes from people that believe in the vaccines! Why should there be a risk if vaccines worked? I basically feel that if someone believes in vaccines, go get the vaccine, believe that it works, and leave my unvaccinated child alone! With unvaccinated children actually being healthier, they do not pose a risk. It’s the vaccines and the unhealthy people who choose to get them that are the risk. Social Responsibility Versus Individual Rights This is another ploy used to manipulate parents into vaccinating: social responsibility. Because of the claim mentioned in the preceding paragraphs of unvaccinated children being a threat to everyone, proponents of vaccines would like you to believe it is your responsibility to society to vaccinate your child. I hope I was able to demonstrate in the last few paragraphs why you needn’t feel this responsibility. You have your own responsibility to make sure your child is safe! You have a responsibility to make sure you are doing right by your child. Everyone is responsible for their own health. Whichever method you choose to believe in to stay healthy, you’re so entitled. The simple fact is that we need less vaccines and more behaviors that actually produce health. What are we eating as a society? Can we even recognize it as food from nature anymore? What concoction of chemicals are we drinking in our water supplies or slathering on our heads and bodies in the form of shampoos, lotions, and cosmetics? What air are we breathing in? Is our air filled with VOC’s? The concepts of health are simple and basic, just hard to do in modern society. But alas, it is everyone’s choice how they would like to live. So no, we do not have any social responsibility to vaccinate our child or in other worlds fill our children’s bodies with toxic chemicals in some perverted way of keeping someone else healthy because they want to jab themselves with a vaccine and consider themselves healthy. Why People Refuse I’d like to wrap this section up by giving a little information on why people refuse vaccines. If you’ve read from the beginning of the vaccine section, I’m sure you’re probably getting some concept as to why. I would just like to say most people that refuse vaccination do so because they have educated themselves (as you’re doing now), and realized that they cannot support vaccination any longer. Vaccine opponents are not conspiracy theorists or terrorists or rebellious. They are not anti-government; there’s just pro-freedom. They’re also not fear mongering; they’re truth spreaders. The goal is to bring light to this issue instead of sweep it under the rug. And there is undeniably an issue going on here. Interestingly, the fear mongering comes from the pro vaccine camp. Parents are manipulated and hit below the belt so to speak. Drug companies know parents are vulnerable when it comes to their children. We’ll do anything for our kids; we want to protect them any way possible. We’re told if we don’t vaccinate our children, they’ll get a horrible disease and die. That’s what we’re all afraid of, isn’t it? Nevermind that there aren’t statistics to back this up, the fear mongering goes on just the same. If you take away nothing else from our entire vaccine section, know this: People who choose to not vaccinate their children are often extremely educated regarding this issue. They’re listening to their instincts, and they’re willing to fight for the right to make their own choices. They will not be coerced or bullied by some self appointed “authority”. |
